Snaps Vs. Tie Downs

Which do you prefer?

There are 2 ways we are finishing the Thistle covers, with snaps under rubrail or with tie downs to trailer.

Snaps
This is the most common method of attaching the cover. It requires a little set up time when you first get the cover, but makes putting the cover on and off easy from then on. It also is a very secure and easy way to hold the cover on when the boat is on a lift or on the water.

When your cover arrives, it will come with

  1. Snaps for the cover
  2. A setting tool to attach the snaps to the cover, so they will line up to the snaps already on your boat
  3. New screw-in snaps for the boat in case you have some missing or never had any snaps.
  4. Installation instructions

Installing the snap hardware while the cover is on the boat ensures the exact best fit.

Tie Downs
This method of cover attachment is good if you are mooring your boat on a trailer or on a lift with walkways around it. We have sewn webbing loops to the underside of the cover hemline at intervals along each side. We supply tie cords for you to tie from each loop down to your trailer or lift. This method avoids having to put snaps into your boat.
